Terms of Service

1. Who we are and what this covers

Squabbler ("Squabbler", "we", "us") operates the debating platform at squabblehq.com. These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and Squabbler covering your access to and use of the site, the arena, and everything connected to it.

By creating an account or using the platform you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use Squabbler.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to hold a Squabbler account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details on your profile and for everything that happens under your account.

Keep your credentials private. Tell us immediately if you believe someone else has accessed your account. One person, one account — accounts created to evade a suspension will be removed.

3. Conduct in the arena

Every squabbler accepts the house rules before their first debate: argue the motion and never the person, no gratuitous profanity, zero tolerance for hateful or identity-based attacks, respect the clock, and concede honestly.

You additionally agree not to post unlawful content, harass other users, impersonate anyone, scrape or automate access to the platform, attempt to interfere with its security, or manipulate votes, views, or points by any means.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the arguments, messages, and profile content you post. By posting to a public squabble you grant Squabbler a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.

Public squabble transcripts are visible to anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. Private team side-chat is not published and is excluded from transcripts by design.

You confirm you have the rights to everything you post and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

5. Moderation and enforcement

Any user can report a message or a whole squabble. Community guides and administrators review reports and may remove content, void a squabble, withhold or reverse points, restrict features, or suspend or terminate an account.

Hate speech results in immediate removal. We aim to be proportionate and to explain our decisions, but we may act without notice where there is a risk of harm or legal exposure.

6. Points, levels, and verdicts

Points, levels, verdicts, and leaderboard positions are features of the service. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and may be recalculated, corrected, or reset where there has been an error, abuse, or a change to the scoring model.

Verdicts are decided by community voting under the published weighting. Squabbler does not warrant that any verdict is objectively correct — it is the crowd's view, not ours.

7. Beta service and availability

Squabbler is currently offered as a free beta. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn, and data may occasionally be lost. We provide the service "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.

If paid plans are introduced, we will publish the pricing and terms before charging anyone, and existing beta users will be told in advance.

8. Third-party services

The platform relies on third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, database, and authentication, including sign-in with Google where you choose it. Your use of those sign-in options is also subject to the relevant provider's terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Squabbler is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, loss of data, loss of profit, or loss of reputation arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Suspension and termination

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. We may suspend or terminate access where you breach these terms or the house rules, or where we are required to by law. Public transcripts of completed squabbles may remain visible with your contributions anonymised on request.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops. Material changes will be announced on the changelog and, where significant, notified in-app. Continuing to use Squabbler after a change means you accept the updated terms.
